D. Hubbell, M.D.
is committed to providing quality care in orthopaedics and sports medicine. He utilizes both non-surgical and surgical treatments to help his patients return to active lifestyles. For your convenience, we have included information on the doctor to help you make an informed decision for your medical care. As a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Medical Honors Society, Dr. Hubbell received a Bachelor of Science degree while attending Villanova University. He completed his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine where he continues to serve on the Georgetown Alumni Admission Committee. Following an internship in general surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, he completed his orthopaedic surgical residency training at St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center in New York City. He conducted research, published and presented papers focusing on trauma and sports related injuries. Dr. Hubbell has extensive experience in sports related injuries since completing an Orthopedic Sportsmedicine Fellowship at Georgetown’s Nirschl Orthopedic & Sportsmedicine Clinic. He worked closely with and provided orthopaedic care to the Washington Redskins, professional baseball players and student athletes from Georgetown and George Mason Universities as well as many Northern Virginia high schools. Currently he provides orthopaedic medical coverage for local high school athletes. Dr. Hubbell was also selected as a PGA Physician for the 2004 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills. During this fellowship, he had the unique opportunity to work alongside Dr. Nirschl, a leader in the development of treatment for tennis related injuries. There Dr. Hubbell treated players on the USTA circuit and was involved in the surgical treatment of a Wimbledon champion as well as a Super Bowl Quarterback. As a fellow, he published and presented papers on research relating to advancements in arthroscopic rotator cuff treatments and shoulder instability. His current Orthopaedic interests include advancement in arthroscopic treatment of shoulder and knee injuries. In addition, he has a particular interest in minimally invasive hip and knee replacements including the state of the art use of computer navigation. Dr. Hubbell is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and is certified by The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of America, The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and The Medical Society of the State of New York. |
