Peter Shelton has been a practicing Physician Assistant in the specialty of Orthopaedic Surgery for twenty-six years. His undergraduate degree was earned at Southampton College of Long Island University and postgraduate training to become a Physician Assistant was undertaken at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical College in Manhattan. He is certified in both primary care and surgery by the National Commission on Certification of Physicians Assistants, and is a member of the American Academy of Physicians Assistants and the New York Society of Physicians Assistants.

Upon graduation Mr. Shelton was employed in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset as a Physician Assistant for eighteen years. In this position he worked closely with residents from the Hospital for Special Surgery caring for patients with a wide variety of orthopaedic problems. His most recent position has been with a private orthopaedic practice in Southampton, New York, which recently merged with Long Island Bone and Joint. Mr. Shelton has practice privileges at North Shore University Hospital, Southampton Hospital, St. Charles Hospital, and J.T. Mather Memorial Hospital. He serves as an assistant in surgery and is certified and licensed to provide pre and post operative care, apply and remove casts, perform initial evaluation of patients with orthopaedic problems and provide in-office follow-up care for established patients.
